The English language, like any other, has evolved through the years and people today do not speak like people used to speak hundreds or thousands of years ago.

There has been for some time a discussion on whether Shakespearean texts should be simplified (or “dumbed down” as more traditionalists put it) so that students from less advantaged communities can understand him – those who defend the modernisation say that no one nowadays speak like that and the modernisation would help Shakespeare tap into a wider audience.
