Upon moving abroad one may have many concerns: accommodation, employment, money, family tagging along and those left behind, education, etc.

For some people, their linguistic skills – or lack thereof – can be another concern. In addition to hoping to be understood, there is also the issue of perhaps not understanding others talking to you because of their accents. Despite the UK being a small country (compared to say Brazil, China, India, US amongst others), there are accents and dialects aplenty. However, don’t take it too hard on yourself, the native English speakers themselves have problems to understand other accents and dialects.
